On My Design Wall Monday Today from Life in the Scrapatch

On my Design Wall today.

This is my Stay-At-Home-Round-Robin,

which I last worked on Here in February

when I was actually caught up with the sew-along.

Then I worked finishing on a blog hop project and was distracted by other projects

and the SAHRR ended without me two weeks ago.

It is all good, though, as I will finish this in my own time.

In truth, the checkerboard challenge week proved puzzling to my quilty muse

and I sewed more than a few units that I set aside

before I decided to combine the checkerboard (four patch units)

 with the ...

Last Border ~ # 3 ~ Flying Geese

for twenty days and twenty nights.

Three weeks behind and the last border to be announce on Monday.

This was in part due to prioritizing my Stripes Blog Hop Quilt

and, quite frankly, the "Checkerboard" border unexpectedly gave me trouble.

Not the sewing, of course, as a checkerboard is one of the easiest units to sew.

Size of units, color or units, placement of units all frustrated me.

I ...

SAHRR ~ Week 3 ~ Flying Geese from Life in the Scrapatch

My  Week 3 Border is done for the

SAHRR 2021

For Week 3 @ Anja Quilts

the challenge was to add a "Flying Geese" border.

I played around with my fabrics for awhile and sewed a few geese

before I figured out what my quilty muse was calling for this border.

I made the middle side units first and then studied it to decide on the corners.

I finally determined that the plus signs in the second border

could be closed in the third border.

These little squares are the result.

I really like this detail.

It adds a bit  of ...

The Geese Are Ready to Fly from Life in the Scrapatch

Since Monday, I have been working on the Week 3 border for my

SAHRR

There has been a lot of playing with the fabrics and sewing flying geese units.

There has been a few twists and turns in the design part

and my seam ripper has gotten quite a workout.

At last, I think I have got it.

The borders are sewn and tomorrow I will be adding them to my Round Robin.

Mr. Scrapatches' eye surgery went well and he is healing quickly.

It has been nice having him home this week.

On Monday he will be returning to ...

Little Questions ~ Big Questions from Life in the Scrapatch

Time for this week's border for the

Week # 3 @ Anja Quilts

This week the challenge is geese.

This one is proving a bit of a challenge for me.

Not the sewing part.

I have my tried and true method for flying geese.

I like to cut corners and chain piece.

~

The challenge is the layout.

How much background fabric in this border?

Colors?

Size of Geese?

Cornerstones or not?

These are The Little Questions.

~

Hmmmmm ... shall have to hope my quilting muse speaks.

~

More geese  later ... hopefully ... coming soon.

~

I may be a bit distracted by the white stuff ...
